Expertise

All of our Directors have significant commercial expertise (in power, gas and gas storage), experience of due diligence work in a variety of markets, analytical skills and a flair for innovative solutions in the energy markets. Lisa and Nick have an excellent track record on regulatory and governmental affairs, including work in Europe and Asia, and Peter has exceptional knowledge of power engineering from every perspective. Our experience and skills combination is unique and we know WWA will bring a new approach to our clients’ businesses.

Lisa Waters

Lisa is an economist with over fourteen years experience in the energy sector. She has worked for the Energy Intensive Users Group (EIUG), independent gas supplier V-is-on gas and Dynegy. Prior to entering the energy sector Lisa worked at the CBI. Lisa leads on electricity sector work, though also has a detailed knowledge of the UK gas market.

At Dynegy Lisa headed the UK regulatory team working with traders and on asset deals, including the purchase and sale of Rough and Hornsea. At V-is-on she covered all regulatory and government affairs roles, as well as PR, working on the purchase of new supply businesses, negotiating credit and gas management deals. For the EIUG she undertook high profile lobbying and was asked to sit on the design and implementation group (DISG) for the new electricity trading arrangements and was a member of the last Pool Executive Committee.

Lisa is currently an industry expert on the Imbalance Settlement Group under the BSC. Lisa has significant lobbying experience, including giving evidence to Select Committees in the Commons and Lords, and representing EU gas customers at the Commission’s Regulatory Forum meetings.

Nick Wye

Nick is an economist with over eleven years experience in the energy sector. He has worked for TotalFinaElf Gas and Power a gas producer, trader, supplier and an independent pipeline owner/operator. In addition he provided expert services to GTL International, a TFE subsidiary energy consultancy business. Nick leads on gas market projects and has considerable expertise in gas storage, though also works on some power related projects.

During his time at Dynegy he headed the European regulatory team providing regulatory, economic and lobbying services to the various continental satellite offices, both at local market and EU levels. Nick has experience of working at all levels of the supply chain including work on offshore projects, gas shipping issues and end user supply.

He has also been involved in asset deals, both in the power and gas markets, in the UK and continental Europe. Nick was a member of the Development Board of EASEE-gas (Euro Association for Streamlining Energy Exchange), a representative for EFET (European Federation of Energy Traders) and a member of the development committee of the formation of the Bacton Allocation Agency. His experience has given him an in depth knowledge of numerous European markets as well as the key players and regulators.

Peter Trussler

Peter is a Class 1 engineer with over twenty five years experience in all aspects of the Power industry. He was involved initially with the operations and maintenance of plant and has since been employed by equipment manufacturers, EPC contractors and asset development with IPP companies. Peter leads on technical and project management work.

Peter worked for Dynegy in asset development where he focussed on opportunities across the EU, including reviewing the opportunities for acquisitions and new build in the Spanish renewables market and investment in wave power installations in the UK. He also performed considerable due diligence on generation assets in UK, Italy and Spain primarily coal fired, but also hydro and gas stations. At PSEG Peter was responsible for a 24 MWe biomass project in Northern Italy (Contract value £80m). He lead the planning, co-ordination and control of technical and commercial aspects of the development from inception through to commercial operation, including due diligence reviews, permits, fuel contracts, EPC designs, etc.

He has also worked on the construction of a 100MWe power station, utilising two Trent Gas Turbine engines, for Rolls Royce and on a variety of schemes as project manager for Mowlem, as a subcontractor to major UK utilities. Prior to this Peter has held senior engineering posts at a number of companies including turbine manufactures, Eskom, the South African utility, Mobil Oil and Swire Pacific in Hong Kong. His experience has given him exceptional insight into power projects from the commercial and engineering issues to the environmental and regulatory frameworks. Peter has also built up a significant set of global contacts that allow him to use his knowledge of different markets in helping each client.
